Neon West
The only NME tape that I’m missing is Neon West. If anyone can help with a copy (digital or physical,) please get in touch. Thanks!

You, my friend, are an absolute star! As someone who has attempted to digitise the NME cassettes 001 to 035 (which have languished in my loft since the late eighties), I appreciate the time and effort you must have put into this opus. Shame on anyone who prevents the dissemination of these gems – if they are that interested in copyright, get them out there on itunes. I have a physical copy of Neon West but, like most of my other cassettes it has a habit of sticking (I think it’s a problem caused by deterioration of glue on the lead-in tape). You’re welcome to have a fiddle on condition that, if you’re successful, (a) I can have my cassette back (like most old fogies, I like the feel of the object in my hand) and (b) I get a copy of the resulting files!

Can’t help with that one I’m afraid but wanted to say how great this site is. Thanks a lot.

Thank you sooooo much. This is a brilliant site. Old cassettes I’d lost touch with – fantastic to see them alive , well and cherished. I can’t seem to get anywhere with the ‘Tapeworm’ link – it goes round and round in circles. Somewhere I have ‘Neon West’ – as soon as I locate it I’ll let you know and I can send it to you.

This is a lovely archive, are you still going with it? None from the ’90s? Or am I just missing them. I have the NMEs from the ’90s, I may still have some of the tapes too. I’m sure C96 (for example) was a cassette. I will look!
Got my own geekography at http://www.clarkeology.com/misc/gigography/
Thanks for putting the effort in!

Just been sent a link to this fantastic site. Was a great collector of these NME tapes and have Neon West sitting behind me on the shelf as I type this. Have been meaning to rip it to digital for years – if I ever get my sorry ass in gear I will send it on….

Bloody brilliant site, I have about 30 of these cassettes, I remember my excitement as they arrived… was always jealous of the first cassette as my collections started with the second!
Does anyone remember the fanzine cassette SFX? I have 3 or 4 of those saved… some interesting interviews with an unheard of new lead singer called Martin Fry!

Right, I admit, I got impatient!
Just to pass the time I set about trying to collect all the tracks on Neon West… Most are from the original discs but I have had to resort to YouTube on a couple of tracks and, for the life of me, I can’t locate track 11 (Jimmy ‘C’ Newman – Daddy’s In His Pirouge) or the studio version of track 23 (Guy Clark – Homegrown Tomatoes). Track 13 is an excerpt of track 1, so I haven’t repeated it. Hopefully this’ll do until some kind soul uploads the original tape. Enjoy!

My ‘home-made’ version of the comp
Can’t find a studio version of ‘Homegrown Tomatoes’ (Youtube version instead) nor any sign of ‘Daddy’s Pirogue’ – still sounds great tho’
Enjoy
